Linetypes, Lineweights and Styles

Linetypes have been created and stored within the project template for use on details, diagrams, legends and schedules. The linetypes are named in a manner that indicates view weight by name and numeric magnitude and by line style. The chart below lists the linetypes. These named linetypes essentially are for drafting and annotations versus objects that are model based. Note that the majority of these linetypes are a red color. This helps users differentiate CES created Revit based details from those created outside of the software.
Linetypes are defined by weight, color and line pattern. Revit has some predefined line patterns that are pretty typical of drafting standards. A listing of those line patterns is shown here on the right. Note that some specially created CES styles appear in this listing. These CES styles are for specific detail annotation in piping diagrams.
Line weights have been assigned for model objects and annotations to make our documentation as clear and well presented as possible. While these are fully preconfigured and relatively transparent to the designer/engineer, the charts below can help you understand the width differences between each of the 16 indexed line weights. The weights by object type are stored within the project template Object Styles dialog (partial view shown below).
