View Naming Convention

​

The view naming convention for all projects shall consist of the applicable discipline as the prefix, the floor level name (matching the architects), <DEMOLITION> (if applicable), <UNDERGROUND> (if applicable), PLAN, and any area designation if required for the project.  See examples below.

The following are the expected prefixes for the disciplines:

​

ELECTRICAL (if combo)

ELECTRICAL POWER

ELECTRICAL LIGHTING

TECHNOLOGY

MECHANICAL (if combo)

MECHANICAL DUCTWORK

MECHANICAL PIPING

PLUMBING

FIRE PROTECTION

For views that will be at an enlarged scale for spaces like mechanical rooms, toilet groups, etc., the following naming style will be used:

​

MECHANICAL ENLARGED PLAN - MEZZANINE 

PLUMBING ENLARGED PLAN - TOILET ROOM 224

PLUMBING ENLARGED UNDERGROUND PLAN - TOILET ROOM 224

​

The enlarged space name will be per the architects nomenclature and will be at the end of the view name.

​

For projects where a typical floor plan view will be used in lieu of populating a full plan (apartments, dormitory, etc.) the following naming convention will used:

 

ELECTRICAL LIGHTING TYPICAL PLAN - UNIT A

PLUMBING TYPICAL PLAN - 3BR

​

The typical space name will be per the architects nomenclature and will be located at the end of the view name.

​

For views that are meant as working / coordination views, the following prefix(es) will be used:

Note that lower case naming will be used to assist the project team in identifying what views are not intended for sheets and are working views only.  The uppercase portion of the names shown below is from the original space plans created at project setup and will be allowed for that portion of the name only.

Mechanical Ductwork Coordination View - 1ST FLOOR PLAN

Mechanical Piping Coordination View - 1ST FLOOR PLAN

Plumbing Coordination View - 1ST FLOOR PLAN

Plumbing Underground Coordination View - 1ST FLOOR PLAN

Fire Protection Coordination View - 1ST FLOOR PLAN

Electrical Power Coordination View - 1ST FLOOR PLAN (for projects where conduit is drawn)
