Project Browser Organization in Revit

For those who are not aware, there is a method to modify what is visible in the project browser in Revit to best suit your individual preferences or just pair down what is in the list that may not be of use to you at this time.

The default project browser sort shows all trade disciplines as well as all view types by discipline.

By right clicking on the Views category at the top of the list, and selecting Browser Organization, the following sort options will appear.

While the names are relatively clear in what they accomplish, I will step through a couple examples to help clarify the usage.

With the Hide Non-Floorplan option selected, all details will be stripped from the listing and a streamlined listing of only floor plans, ceiling plans, 3D views and sections will be all that remain, for each discipline.

If a user would prefer to only see the discipline specific to their needs, the CES - <trade> Only can be selected and a listing of floor plans and drafting views will appear for ONLY that discipline.

The filters of the project browser listing can be made to filter this listing in many ways. These current filters are just a starting point and should help the end user minimize the list when they see fit and can easily be switched from one to the next at any time.

It should be noted that this filter mechanism is by session and the last synced state will stay in place for the next user who opens the model. Users should keep this in mind for the moment that the listing is not what you expect it to be. The user will simply need to pick the filter that best suits them and proceed with their work as usual.

If anyone would like to learn more about the filtering of the project browser, please see me and I will be happy to assist.
