File Server Upgrades and Revit - Mass and NYC offices
As of today, the Massachusetts office has a new file storage server. Next week, the NY office will also be getting an upgraded system. Unfortunately, Revit can recognize that the file server name has changed and will break the central file access thus disabling the creation of a new local file. This is evidenced in the first image below with the Create New Local grayed out.
To fix the issue, we will need to select Detach from Central to begin the process of recreating a central model in the new server. The next two images demonstrate the selections needed to accomplish this.
After the file is detached and opened, we must select Save As from the file menu and select the original file name in the file list. The following dialog lets you know that the original file and its backups will be replaced/deleted. Select the Yes option.
When complete, the user will be in an open version of the central model and not in a local copy of the file. Because of this, the user must exit the model and reopen to ensure that a local file is created and used for additional work. The dialog on reopen should appear as below, with the Create New Local pre-selected. If indicated as seen here, the model is now ready for anyone else to open and continue work.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please let me know and I will be glad to help.
