Upgrading Models to a Newer Version of Revit

To upgrade models to a newer version of Revit, you must first backup all the linked models to a version named folder like \OlderR18 within the ARCH folder. These can be deleted at your discretion after the update has been completed.

The next step would be to upgrade each linked model before updating the MEP. You can accomplish this by opening each model as detached from central. After update is complete, you will "Save as" over the original file with their original name.

After all the linked files are complete, you will then open the MEP model as detached from central. When opened, the file should be "Saved as" the new version prefix with the remainder of the original name in the same folder as the original.

Example:

R18-2019000-MEP Central-<project name>

to

R19-2019000-MEP Central-<project name>

When the save is complete, Sync the file and "Relinquish All Mine". Save again and exit as you will be in the central model at this point.

When the model is re-opened, you will be in the local copy and should be ready to proceed with your project.
