Damper and Detector Coordination Between Mechanical and Electrical Power

Updated: May 17, 2021

In an effort to facilitate better coordination and mitigate missed items in our documentation, we have created new content that will help ensure that multi-discipline content is better represented and reliable.

The project template now contains 3 new families and new view template controls to allow for Fire Smoke Dampers, Smoke Dampers and Duct Smoke Detectors to be inserted in the mechanical drawings and automatically appear on the power drawings. The new dampers and the detector are true to life in their physical dimensions as well as indicate an area of consideration for access where applicable.

The symbol legends are in the process of being updated and will reflect these newer annotations.

The family names in the project template are as follows:

  • CES-M-Smoke Damper (with Electrical Coord)

  • CES-M-FireSmoke Damper (with Electrical Coord)

  • CES-FA-Duct Smoke Detector

Please note that the Fire Smoke damper annotation line shall be aligned with the centerline of the wall to set the sleeve in the proper location.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. A short demonstration of this workflow can be arranged.
